“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 125:2
There is something deeply comforting about the image of mountains surrounding a city. They stand tall, firm, and unmoved, offering a natural barrier of safety and strength. This is the picture the psalmist paints of God’s protection over His people. Just as the mountains stand immovable around Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His children with His constant care and unfailing presence.
God’s protection is not temporary or partial. It is both now and forevermore. Even when we cannot see Him at work, He is encircling us with His presence. His eyes are upon us, His hands are around us, and His power shields us from dangers both seen and unseen. There is no place we can go where His covering love does not reach.
When the pressures of life close in, remember that you are not defenseless. You are surrounded by the Almighty. His presence forms a wall of peace around your heart. His grace becomes a shield in times of fear. His faithfulness guards you through every storm. You may not always understand the path ahead, but you can rest in the assurance that you are never alone.
So lift your eyes to the hills, and remember that the God who formed the mountains is the same God who watches over you. He is your protector, your refuge, and your hiding place. His love encircles you today and will never fail you.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank You that You surround me with Your love and protection every moment of my life. When I feel vulnerable or afraid, remind me that You are my shield and my strong tower. Let Your presence be the mountain of peace and safety around me today and forever. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
