Exodus 14:14 – “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
These words were spoken at a moment of intense pressure. The Israelites stood trapped between the Red Sea and the advancing Egyptian army. Fear was rising. Panic was spreading. There seemed to be no visible way out. Yet in the middle of that crisis, God gave a command that felt completely opposite to human instinct. Be still.
Stillness in such a moment was not weakness. It was trust. It meant refusing to give in to fear or frantic effort. It meant believing that God was not absent, even when the situation looked impossible. The Lord was already at work, preparing a deliverance that no one could yet see.
There are seasons in our lives when we feel surrounded by problems, uncertainty, or opposition. We may be tempted to strive, to force solutions, or to fight battles in our own strength. Yet God sometimes calls us to step back and trust Him to move. Stillness is an act of surrender. It declares that we believe God is sovereign, powerful, and faithful.
When you choose to be still before Him, you create space for His power to be revealed. The quiet moments that seem unproductive may actually be sacred. They are holy ground moments where faith is formed, character is refined, and God’s purposes are unfolding beneath the surface.
The Lord is working, even when it looks like nothing is happening. He sees the full picture. He knows the outcome. And He is fully capable of fighting on your behalf. Rest in His presence. Trust in His timing. Watch what He will do.
Prayer
Lord, help me to be still and to trust that You are working on my behalf, even when it seems like nothing is happening. Help me to understand that these quiet moments are holy ground moments when I will see what You will do. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. Have a blessed Thursday.
