1 Samuel 16:7 – “The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
In a world that measures worth by appearance, status, achievement, and popularity, this verse brings both comfort and correction. God does not evaluate us according to external standards. He is not impressed by image, nor is He discouraged by outward weakness. His focus is deeper. He looks at the heart.
When the prophet Samuel was sent to anoint a king, he naturally assumed that the strongest and most impressive candidate would be God’s choice. Yet God saw what human eyes could not see. He saw the hidden devotion, the quiet faithfulness, and the sincere love within David’s heart. This reminds us that God’s perspective is entirely different from ours.
There may be times when you feel overlooked, underestimated, or misunderstood. Others may judge you by surface level impressions or temporary circumstances. But God sees beyond what is visible. He knows your motives, your desires, your struggles, and your intentions. Nothing about your inner life escapes His attention.
This truth is both reassuring and challenging. It reassures us because our true value is not determined by public opinion. It challenges us because God is concerned with the condition of our hearts. He desires sincerity, humility, and devotion more than performance or recognition. When our hearts are aligned with Him, we stand secure in His approval.
Today, rest in the knowledge that you are fully known and deeply valued by God. Ask Him to shape your heart to reflect His character, and to help you see others with the same grace and insight that He shows you.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that nothing escapes Your view. You are not distracted by how things look because Your perspective is different, and You see my heart. Help me to see myself and others the way You do. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. Have a wonderful Saturday.
