Luke 1:35 – The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.”
At this sacred season, we turn our hearts again to the miracle of the birth of the Son of God. Christmas is not merely a date on the calendar. It is the moment when heaven leaned toward earth and God chose to dwell among His people. What began in a quiet conversation between an angel and a young woman became the turning point of all history.
Mary’s life reminds us that God often works in ways that stretch our understanding. She did not have all the answers, yet she trusted the One who called her. When the Holy Spirit came upon her, everything changed. Fear gave way to faith. Uncertainty gave way to obedience. An ordinary life became the dwelling place of God’s extraordinary purpose.
The promise in this passage is not limited to Mary alone. The same God who overshadowed her still comes close to His people today. When God overshadows us, He does not crush us. He covers us with His presence, His power, and His love. He brings peace where there has been anxiety, hope where there has been weariness, and new life where things seemed impossible.
As we reflect on the birth of Christ, we are invited to open our hearts afresh. We are invited to trust that God is still at work in quiet and unseen ways. The Holy Spirit still comes to guide, strengthen, and transform. When we allow God to overshadow us, our lives also become testimonies of His grace.
May this season remind you that you are not forgotten. You are seen by God. May His Spirit rest upon you, and may His power surround you with love, comfort, and courage. May the joy of Christ’s birth become a living and lasting reality in your life.
Prayer
Lord, today I pause to recognise the deep meaning of this holy season. Holy Spirit, come upon me. Let Your power rest on me and surround me with Your love, so that the joy of Christ’s birth may shape my life each day. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. Have a blessed Wednesday.
