“I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God.” – Exodus 6:7
There are few promises in Scripture as intimate and reassuring as this one. In the midst of Israel’s suffering and slavery, God spoke words of hope and identity: “I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God.”
This was not just a declaration, it was a covenant of love, belonging, and commitment. And that same covenant is extended to us today.
God doesn’t just want to bless you from a distance. He longs for a deep relationship with you. He says, “I will take you.” That’s personal. That’s intentional. He is choosing you, just as a loving parent chooses to care for a child or a shepherd commits to watch over his flock.
When He says, “You will be My people,” it means you belong. You are not forgotten. You are not alone. You are not abandoned. You are His.
To belong to God is to be wrapped in the fullness of His love, protected by His hand, and guided by His wisdom. It means your identity is secure, not in what the world says you are, but in what He declares over you.
And when He declares, “I will be your God,” He is pledging Himself to you fully, as Provider, Protector, Comforter, Sustainer, and Friend. You never have to walk alone. You never have to carry your burdens by yourself. You belong to the One who holds all things together.
So today, quiet your heart and let this truth wash over you: You are His, and He is yours. There is no greater assurance, no deeper peace, and no stronger love.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for Your beautiful promise that I can belong to You. In a world filled with rejection and instability, I find my identity in You. Take me as Your own. Be my Father, my Guide, and my Strength. Help me to walk each day knowing that I am deeply loved and fully known by You. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. Have a blessed Friday.
