“I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with My hand…” – Exodus 33:22
There are moments in life when the storms rage louder than our prayers, when the pressures feel too great to bear, and when we long for a place of safety — a refuge not just from trouble, but from fear, anxiety, and despair. And in those moments, God calls us to Himself.
He says, “Come closer. Let Me place you in the cleft of the rock — in the hollow of My presence, where no harm can reach you and where My hand will cover you.” This is not just protection; it’s intimacy. It’s a place of closeness, of comfort, and divine safety.
The cleft in the rock is symbolic of Jesus — the Rock of Ages — who was pierced for us, that we might dwell securely in Him. And when we choose to live within His shadow, we are choosing to abide in a place where His presence becomes our protection, His hand becomes our covering, and His nearness becomes our peace.
The Lord does not promise a life free from storms, but He promises to hide you in Himself. You don’t have to run far — you just need to run to Him.
PRAYER:
Lord, thank You that I can run to You and find rest and refuge in the cleft of the Rock. When life overwhelms me, may I not look for shelter in the wrong places, but come to You — my hiding place, my refuge, and my peace. Let me feel the comfort of Your hand covering me and the strength of Your presence carrying me through every season. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. May your Friday be filled with peace, comfort, and the covering presence of our Almighty God.
