Nyakunu, Zimbabwe

A spirit-filled ceremony marked a significant milestone for three young people in the Dora North Circuit of the United Methodist Church, as they were officially confirmed as full members during a service led by Rev. Enesto Muzerengwa.

The confirmation service, held at the Nyakunu United Methodist Church, was a blend of tradition, joy, and heartfelt commitment to the faith. It celebrated the spiritual journey of the teens, who had completed preparation and discipleship classes.

“This is not just a ceremony; it’s a declaration of faith and a commitment to walk with Christ,” said Rev. Muzerengwa. “Today, we welcome these young people into full communion with the Church, trusting that they will be active in serving God and the community.”

The three teens, stood before the altar, reaffirming their baptismal vows and committing to lives of Christian service.

One of the newly confirmed teens, 13-year-old Tawananysha Gauchi, shared her excitement about this spiritual milestone. “I feel honored to be part of something bigger than myself. Being a full member of the United Methodist Church means I can actively serve in ministries that build God’s kingdom. This moment is a blessing.”

The ceremony concluded with a charge to the congregation, reminding them of their role in nurturing the young members’ faith. The church’s Connectional Ministries Chairperson, Phillip Mwaramba, praised the teens for their dedication and encouraged others to follow their example.

“These young people are the future of our church,” Mwaramba remarked. “Their commitment is an inspiration to all of us. May this day remind us that nurturing the next generation in faith is central to our mission.”

The event highlighted the United Methodist Church’s emphasis on engaging youth in ministry and community-building. As the Dora North Circuit continues to grow, the confirmation of these teens serves as a testament to the enduring power of faith and the importance of guiding young believers in their spiritual journey.

The church hopes this occasion will encourage other youth to actively participate in church life, embracing their faith with the same zeal displayed by these young members.
