Psalm 20:7 – “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the Name of the LORD our God.”
In ancient times, chariots and horses represented military strength, speed, and visible power. They were symbols of security and dominance. To possess them was to appear invincible. Yet this verse draws a sharp distinction between visible resources and invisible trust. It reminds us that true security does not come from what we can see, measure, or control. It comes from the Lord.
Today, our chariots and horses may look different. They may take the form of money, status, connections, education, or personal ability. None of these things are wrong in themselves, but they are limited. They can fail. They can be taken away. They can disappoint. Human power is temporary and fragile.
In contrast, the Name of the Lord represents His character, His authority, His faithfulness, and His covenant promises. When we say we trust in His Name, we are declaring confidence in who He is. He is unchanging. He is all powerful. He is sovereign over every circumstance. His strength knows no boundaries, and His ability is never diminished by time or opposition.
Trusting in the Lord is a deliberate choice. It means shifting your dependence away from temporary supports and placing it firmly in God’s eternal nature. It means standing secure even when external resources seem uncertain. When you trust in Him, your foundation is stable, your hope is firm, and your heart is anchored.
Let today be a renewed declaration. While others may place their confidence in visible strength, you will trust in the Name of the Lord your God. He is your security. He is your strength. He is your victory.
Prayer
Lord, I choose to trust in You and in Your unlimited power and ability. Help me not to rely on my own strength or the things of this world, but to stand firm in Your Name. You are my security, my strength, and my victory. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. Have a blessed Thursday.
