2 Corinthians 2:15 – “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”
Our lives are not neutral. Every day, whether we are aware of it or not, we are releasing a fragrance. The question is not whether we give off an aroma, but what kind of aroma it is. Scripture tells us that to God, we are meant to be the pleasing aroma of Christ. This means our lives should rise to Him as an offering that delights His heart.
An aroma is produced when something is broken, poured out, or exposed. Perfume releases its fragrance when the bottle is opened. Incense fills a room when it is burned. In the same way, Christ’s aroma flows from lives that are surrendered, obedient, and yielded to God. It is not produced by words alone, but by a life laid down daily before Him.
This aroma is not only sensed by God, but by people. Paul reminds us that this fragrance reaches both those who are being saved and those who are perishing. People are watching how we live, how we speak, how we respond under pressure, and how we love when it is difficult. Our choices, attitudes, and integrity either draw people closer to Christ or push them further away.
To be the aroma of Christ means reflecting His love, humility, grace, and truth in practical ways. It means choosing obedience when it is costly, forgiveness when it is painful, and faithfulness when no one is applauding. A life of daily surrender allows Christ to live through us, and His presence becomes evident without us forcing it.
When we live this way, our lives become an offering. Not perfect, but genuine. Not loud, but powerful. Not self-centered, but Christ-centered. Such a life pleases God and leaves a lasting impact on everyone it touches.
Prayer
Lord, I choose to live a life of surrender and obedience to You. May my life be an offering and a pleasing aroma to You, and may my life touch and influence those around me. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Good morning to you all. Have a wonderful Thursday.
